The students have received back their Viscosity and Density quiz marks and were asked to get it signed and returned. They have been studying various areas of Density, Buoyancy and Archimedes’s Principle. They will be having a short quiz next week regarding these concepts. They had various homework questions to complete that were taken up in class as well as class time to review for their quiz.

Grade 7 Science
The students have started looking at the ways Heat is transferred. They will be looking at three processes: Conduction, Radiation and Convection. They were asked to look at examples at home of good conductors and poor conductors of heat. They were also asked to complete questions #1-4, 6 on page 95.
Grade 6 Science
The students have finished looking at the Plant Kingdom and have been studying the Fungi Kingdom. They were asked to summarize various characteristics about the kingdom and well as make comparative charts in class.

Grade 8 Science
Students were asked to hand in their, ‘Do all Liquids Mix?’ lab. They re-read pg. 212 in the Science textbook and were asked to describe how temperature affects gases and liquid’s viscosity differently. They also looked at how density and temperature are related and why water is an exception to the general rules we’ve studied.
They were asked to read pg. 216-221 and highlight all the bold terms. Describe Archimedes Principle and explain why some objects float while others sink and answer question 6 on pg. 226. Next week, we will continue to look at Buoyancy in more detail.
Grade 6 Science
The students completed activities with their leave collections and handed in their work. We will start looking briefly at the Fungi and Protist Kingdoms in more detail next week.

Grade 8
The students have their quiz next week. It will cover the Particle theory, Viscosity/Flow rate and Density. They were given in class practice questions and the questions were taken up. The questions were pg. 205, #10-14, pg. 215, # 1-6, pg. 226 #1, 2, 4, 7 and 8. They were also given a lab that will be due next week as well.
Grade 7
The students have been asked to read pages 84-85 and answer questions 1-6 on page 85 under, ‘Understanding Concepts’. As well, they should have a graph and a set of questions based on an in class demonstration on the ‘Changes of State in Water. They were given a worksheet on the different Changes of States and on Heating Curves and they were asked to complete the questions on that sheet for homework. They can expect a quiz coming up on the particle theory and measuring temperature next week. We will review early next week what will be on the test.
Grade 6
The students have begun studying the Plant Kingdom and they have reviewed the process of Photosynthesis and were asked to complete a homework question. They have traced their leave samples and they will continue to look at different characteristics about leaves. The students were also given a worksheet on the two types of trees we will be studying. They have been asked to work on a portion of this worksheet and they will continue it in class next week.

Grade 8
The grade 8 students have answered questions on viscosity related to their lab in class. They have taken notes on Viscosity, Flow rate and Density. They have been assigned the following questions from the Grade 8 textbook, read pages 198-200 and answer questions 1-4 on page 202, read pages 210-213 and answer questions 1-4 on page 215. Read pages, 216-218 and answer questions #1-6 on page 219. They were also given two worksheets for practice on viscosity and density. They will be working on a lab next week (hand out given) and they will be having a quiz on all topics covered to date soon.
Grade 7
The grade 7 students have received their Safety and Science Equipment quiz marks. They were asked to hand their ‘Temperature and Forensics’ lab questions. They have been asked to read pages 84-85 and answer questions 1-6 on page 85 under, ‘Understanding Concepts’. As well, they were asked to complete a graph and a set of questions based on an in class demonstration on the changes of state in water. They can expect a quiz coming up on the particle theory and measuring temperature.
Grade 6
The students will be having a quiz on classification and the animal kingdom. They have been asked to start to collect different fallen leaves from trees outside. They will eventually be sorting and organizing the leaves.
