Grade 8 Science

The students were given their Water Systems assignment last week.  They are working on this and being graded on their class work.  I have been checking in with groups and encouraging them to use this time well.

Grade 7 Science

The students were given the week to work on construction of their shelters for their Structures project.  We reviewed the criteria for the written component of the assignment.  A specific due date was set for both classes. Both the written and model will be due next week.

Grade 6 Science

The students were given a worksheet on Invertebrates for homework and it was collected this week.  They were encouraged to do some research on their Space project for homework as well. 

By early next week, the students should be done the Jot note phase of the Space assignment and should be starting to work on the construction of their model for the assignment.

Grade 8 Science

This week we tested the students car project.  They were terrific and achieved great results.  They were also given their final assignment for the year on Water Systems.

Grade 7 Science

The students were given the week to plan and start construction of their Structures project.  A specific due date will be assigned next week.  They were reminded to make sure they come prepared with their materials and to review the rubric for the assignment as well as look at the individual written component to the assignment. 

Grade 6 Science

This week the students started research on their Space project topic.  They also started to learn about the organization of living things in Kingdoms, with a specific emphasis on the Animal Kingdom.

Grade 8 Science

The students car project and written component were due this week.  We will begin testing them next week.  The students also had a Scientist in the School workshop on Water Systems where they completed a series of hands on activities related to this unit of study.

Grade 7 Science

The students should have completed a sketch/design of their Structures project.  They were given time to begin working on construction of this project.  They were also given back their test results on their Structures Test.  I will hand back all the tests next week for parent signature.

Grade 6 Science

This week the students researched and submitted topics for approval for their Space Project.  They will begin the project next week.  They also began studying their next unit on the Diversity of Living things.
