Grade 8 Science

All students should have received their Safety tests back by now.  This week, the students wrapped up their discussion questions on Surface Tension and completed another experiment.  They have begun to study the properties of Fluids.  They will start to be assigned some readings and textbook discussion questions as we move along in the unit.

Grade 7 Science

The students received their Safety tests to take home.  This week they have been working on conducting their own experiment and learning about the components of writing a lab report.  They were also given a hand out on temperatures of various items as an introduction to their first unit on Heat.

Grade 6 Science

The students answered some questions based on our in class activities on Static Electricity.  They were marked and taken up.  They were given a hand out on the components of a battery that we will continue to discuss as students begin to explore building circuits.

Grade 8 Science

The students have studied safety, safety equipment and materials.  They wrote a quiz based on these concepts that they received their mark for.  Next week, they will be able to take the quiz home.  They have investigated the concept of Surface Tension and were asked to answer questions based on an experiment and reading.  They will continue to learn about Fluids and their properties.

Grade 7 Science

The students have studied safety and safety equipment.  They wrote a quiz on these concepts that they will receive back next week. We have begun studying the components of the Scientific Method and writing a Lab Report.  Students were asked to create their own mini experiment that they will conduct in class and write up according to the steps they learnt on writing a lab report.

Grade 6 Science

The students have begun to study Electricity.  They have studied various Scientists and their contributions to understanding electricity.  They learnt the components of an atom, electrical charges and have begun to investigate the concept of Static Electricity.  We conducted two experiments to demonstrate static electricity and the students made notes.

Welcome back everyone!  I hope everyone had a great summer! 

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Ms. Chandra. I will be teaching Grade 6-8 Science at LKS and I will also be the Homeroom teacher for 8B.  I am looking forward to working again with the students, parents and staff.


This web page is now up and running.  I will be updating it regularly and it will help keep you updated with my science program, upcoming topics, assignments, tests and projects.
