Grade 8 Science
This week the students wrote their first test on the properties of fluids. They will get them back next week. We will move on to studying the viscosity and density concepts of liquids and gases.
Grade 7 Science
This week, the students have been learning how to write a formal lab report. They conducted an experiment related to our heat unit and they will eventually type this up as a formal lab report and submit it for assessment.
Grade 6 Science
The students received their static electricity test and were asked to get them signed and returned to me. This past week, they started building circuits and they will continue to learn the two types of circuits we will study this term, series and parallel circuits.

Grade 8 Science
This week the students continued with two more investigations examining the properties in water (surface tension, adhesion, cohesion and capillary action). They were assigned follow up questions to each experiment. We discussed all the results and the key concepts. Next week they can expect a short quiz on the material we have covered to date.
Grade 7 Science
This week the students built and tested their home made thermometers. We will be discussing their results and completing follow up questions. As well, they were assigned some background reading and questions to help with their investigation.
Grade 6 Science
This week we focused our study on Static Electricity. We conducted a few in class investigations and completed some class notes. The students watched a video as a follow up. They will have a short quiz on the material we have covered to date. Next week, we will be focusing on building circuits.

Grade 8 Science
The Grade 8s began this year off with reviewing Science safety. They were introduced to several new pieces of laboratory equipment and they had their first test this week on this information.
They also began their first unit in Science on Fluids. They have conducted an experiment that investigated the surface tension in water. We took up these results. Next week, they will be conducting two more investigations.

Grade 7 Science
The students have begun this year off studying Science Safety. We reviewed safety rules, procedures and equipment. They have a quiz on all of this material next week.
They also began their first unit on Heat. They were assigned some readings and began a vocabulary list. Their first project is to determine how a thermometer works. They will be building their own thermometer and testing it next week.

Grade 6 Science
The Grade 6 students reviewed Safety in Science and were given a Science Duo-tang to keep their notes in.
They began their first unit on Electricity. They were given an introductory note on Electricity, Atoms and Electrical Charges. They conducted an experiment on Static Electricity and were also given a handout for this to record observations.

Ms. Chandra's Science Page 2017-2018
Welcome to Ms. Chandra's Science Page 2017-2018
Welcome back everyone! I hope everyone had a great summer!
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Ms. Chandra. I will be teaching Grade 6-8 Science at LKS and I will also be the Homeroom teacher for 8B. I am looking forward to working again with the students, parents and staff.
This web page is now up and running. I will be updating it regularly and it will help keep you updated with my Science program, upcoming topics, assignments, tests and projects.
I look forward to meeting you and getting to know one another.
