Grade 8 Science

This week the students all finished their DNA project.  All DNA models should have been presented and the written component handed in.  All Science Fair projects are due after the break.  Each class has their specific due date.

Grade 7 Science

This week the students continued to work on their lunch box.  They also have an individual written component.  All Science Fair projects are due after the break.  Each class has their own specific due date.

Grade 6 Science

This week the students finished their timelines and were given time to work on their Science Fair.  All Science Fair projects are due after the break.  Each class has a specific due date.

Grade 8 Science

We began our new unit on Cells.  The students had a hand out looking at various Scientists that have contributed to our understanding of cells.  They were also given an assignment where they are researching DNA and they will have to construct an edible model of DNA.  This is due next week.

 

Grade 7 Science

This week the students continued to work on constructing their lunch box frame.  They should start thinking about their individual report and the materials they will use to insulate their box to keep ice cubes cool.

Grade 6 Science

This week the students worked on a timeline to summarize some key events in history on Air and Flight.

Grade 8 Science

We finished up our discussion on oil spills and their impact and looked at some current issues in the news today surrounding this topic.  We have just begun our new unit on Cells. Students will have one activity to complete on constructing a DNA (edible model) before the break.

They were also given time to work on their Science Fair projects and were asked to pick up their Science Fair boards.

 

Grade 7 Science

The students finished their blueprint and planning for their design and construction on their lunchbox assignment.  They should have started construction this week.  They were also given time to work on their Science Fair projects and were asked to pick up their Science Fair boards.

Grade 6 Science

All the students should be done all three electricity stations/activities.  They were asked to hand in their written component for each station.  They were also given time this week to work on their Science Fair and were asked to pick up their boards.

Grade 6-8 Science

Next week all the Grades 6-8 classes will be given time to work on their Science Fair.  They will be given 2 periods to share what they have done to date.  They can also use this time to either collect data (conduct their surveys etc.), plan or work on their boards.

Grade 8 Science

This week we looked at oil spills and their clean up.  The students performed an experiment and will have follow up questions to answer. 

Grade 7 Science

This week the students worked on their final heat project assignment.  They will be constructing a lunch box and will build the frame in class and choose materials to insulate it.  They worked on their blueprint for their design of this.

Both classes received their Heat test and were asked to get it signed and returned for next week.

Grade 6 Science

This week the students continued to work on their Electricity stations.  They should be on their last and final station and should have 3 handouts to accompany each station that will be marked.
