Grade 8 Science
This week we covered Viscosity, Flow Rate and Density (calculations). There were a number of notes and practice questions. We will conduct a lab next week and the students were told they could expect a quiz coming up late next week.
Grade 7 Science
This week the students conducted their Temperature and Coffee experiment. They are writing this experiment up as a Formal Lab Report. They have been given class time to do this work and a due date will be assigned soon.
They have a quiz coming up next week Thursday on Heat. They should review their notes. Specifically: Particle Theory, Thermometer parts/functions, Different specific Temperatures and Methods to Measure Temperature and How a Thermometer works.

Grade 8 Science
This week the students conducted another experiment and we examined the results. They had a lab sheet to complete and follow up questions. The next properties of fluids we will look are Viscosity and Density. The students were asked to do some background reading and answer questions from the textbook.
Grade 7 Science
This week the students should have received their Science Safety Test and were asked to get them signed and returned.
We continued with our first unit of study on Heat. The students have been learning about different ways to measure heat. They made their own home-made thermometers and tested them. We have connected the Particle Theory to how heat affects the motion of particles.

Grade 8 Science
This week the students wrote their Science Equipment test. They conducted their second experiment on Surface Tension and completed a set of questions.
Grade 7 Science
This week the students wrote their Safety test.
We started our first unit on Heat and discussed the particles in the 3 states of matter. We also conducted an experiment on Oobleck and discussed what a Non-Newtonian Fluid is. The students were asked to review their hand out on the Particle Theory.

Grade 8 Science
We have started talking about more advanced Science equipment that the students will be using this year and in years to come. They will have a short quiz on this material next week.
We also started our new unit studying the properties of liquid and gases and completed our first experiment today. We will discuss our results next week.

Grade 7 Science
We have jumped right into Science safety this week! The students have been learning about specific Science Safety Equipment and WHMIS, HHPS symbols. They will be having a short quiz next week on the material we have covered.
Ms. Chandra's Science Page 2019-2020
Welcome to Ms. Chandra's Science Page 2019-2020
Welcome back everyone! I hope everyone had a great summer!
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Ms. Chandra. I will be teaching Grade 7-8 Science at LKS and I will also be the Homeroom teacher for 8B and teaching their Math. I am looking forward to working again with the students, parents and staff.
This web page is now up and running. I will be updating it regularly and it will help keep you updated with my Science program, upcoming topics, assignments, tests and projects.
I look forward to meeting you and getting to know one another.
