Grade 8 Science

This past week we tested our car racers!  Great results!  We started to review all the material related to the unit.  The students will be given next week to review and practice for the test and can expect the test early the following week.  The test will cover: levers, different forms of energy, Work, MA, IMA, and ME calculations.

Grade 7 Science

The students handed in their Trebuchet reports and we tested out their structures.  We had a great success rate!  Next week we will begin our last unit on Ecosystems.

Grade 6 Science

The students continued to study how living things are organized.  They completed a note in class as well as a booklet.  They can expect a small quiz on this material late next week.  They were also given a new assignment.

Grade 8 Science

The students had time to work on their Car racers this week and collect data for their report.  They have had a lot of success with this project!  Their Cars and written individual reports were due today.  We will be testing next week.

Grade 7 Science

This week the students had time to work on their Trebuchets and written reports.  The Trebuchets are due today and will be tested on Monday.  Their written individual component is due on Monday.

Grade 6 Science

We have almost finished all our Space presentations!!  The projects were terrific!  We have already begun our last unit in Science on Biodiversity and will continue with this unit next week.

Grade 8 Science

The students were given time to work on their Car Racers.  They should be well on their way to testing it and starting to modify parts.  They will be given next week to continue to work on their cars.  Due dates will start to be assigned next week after I check in to see where most of the students are. 


They have been reminded that there is an Individual written component.  That is their homework part of the assignment.  They should start looking at these questions and begin typing up their report. 


They also had a Scientist in the School workshop on Groundwater Systems this past week. 

Grade 7 Science

The students have continued to work on their Trebuchet projects.  They were also given time to start their report. 

Grade 6 Science

The students continued with their Space project presentations.  They also had a worksheet to complete in their Biodiversity package.

Grade 8 Science

This week the students were given a package on Mechanical Advantage to work on and were asked to hand it in.  They were also given time to work on their car racers.

Grade 7 Science

This week the students were given time to continue to construct their Trebuchets.  By next week they should be adding their counterweight and sling.  They have been reminded there is an individual written component that will be due upon completion of their Trebuchet.  The written component is the homework part of the assignment.

Grade 6 Science

This week the students had a Scientist in the School workshop on Biodiversity!  They made mini terrariums that they were allowed to take home to observe over the next little while.

They were also given time to make sure they were prepared to present their Space project visuals to the class.  We started presentations and will continue next week.
