Grade 8 Science

This week we wrapped up our unit on Buoyancy. We discussed when objects float, sink and rise, Archimedes’ Principle and a few other related concepts.  We will be moving on to pressure and then a test date will be announced.

Grade 7 Science

This week we reviewed our discussion on Changes of States.  We also covered the 3 ways Heat Transfers: Conduction, Convection, Radiation.  The students were given practice questions to answer and review.  They will be having a test next week on these concepts. 


I have started handing back their Temperature and Lab formal reports.  The rest to be given out next week. They will also be starting their 'Lunchbox Building' Project next week.

Grade 8 Science

This week the students received their Viscosity/Density test back and were asked to get them signed.  They continued to plan for their Boat challenge, which we will be testing next week.  We will then be moving on to Pressure.  The students can expect a short test after on these concepts.

Grade 7 Science

This week the students covered some questions related to Changes in State and Heat Transfer.  Our focus next week will be on Heat Transfer and their upcoming 'Building Project'. 


The students can expect a short quiz to check on their understanding of Changes in States and Heat Transfer soon. I will give them enough notice about when this will be.

Grade 8 Science

This week the students had time to work through practice questions in preparation for their test.  They also started to look at Buoyancy, Archimedes’ and Pressure concepts.  We will be moving on to those next week.  They were given a small activity assignment that they will work on next week. 

Grade 7 Science

The students had their Heat test returned to them and were asked to get them signed.

We conducted an experiment related to Changes of States.  The students will be moving on to Heat Transfer.  They were given an outline of an assignment that they will be working on for the next few weeks.

Grade 8 Science

The week we took up all in class work on Density.  The students conducted a lab on Viscosity and Density and had a set of questions to complete.  I have moved their test till next week.  The test will cover everything we have studied on Fluids to date.

Grade 7 Science

Last week the students handed in their Temperature and Forensics Lab Report.  They also wrote their first test on Heat.  They have set up for an experiment this week where we will look at Changes of States and then move on to Heat Transfer.
