Grade 6 Science

Most students were given back their test on Electricity.  We took up the questions related to Switches and Symbols.  They started to work on building series and parallel circuits.  They will be getting a final electricity project next week.  Some classes have been asked to start looking for empty shoe boxes that they can use for this project.

Grade 8 Science

Students conducted a lab this week and had questions assigned that were taken up in class and marked. They received an assignment on Viscosity that they will need to do outside of school.  They have the option to work with a partner or alone.  I have not assigned a due date as of yet.  There is no Science homework assigned over the Thanksgiving long weekend, but they may wish to look over the assignment for ideas.

Grade 7 Science

Students began to learn about the Particle Theory and Matter.  They learnt the different parts of a thermometer and had a chance to use them and test them in different scenarios.  They were given a hand out on different ways to measure heat that they were asked to complete in class.  They will be given a lab assignment that they will conduct in class and then write up individually as a formal lab report for marking.

Grade 6 Science

Students wrote an Electricity test this week.  They will be receiving them next week.  We started to look at different types of switches and symbols and how to draw circuit diagrams.  We will be looking at two different types of circuits next week, a series circuit and a parallel circuit.

Grade 8 Science

The students completed another experiment last week and we took up the questions that were assigned on Fluids from the textbook.  The students reviewed the components of the Particle theory and will be conducting a lab next week investigating the Viscosity and Flow rate of gases and liquids.

Grade 7 Science

The students completed their write up for their group experiments they planned.  They presented their experiment and findings and handed in a copy of their lab report.  They will be getting feedback on the write up.  They began studying the components of the Particle theory to prepare them for their unit on Heat.

Grade 6 Science

The students have their first quiz on Electricity this week.  They were asked to know the following:  electricity and electrical charges, an atom, Scientists and their contributions, static electricity and the components of a battery as well as how it works.  They will be continuing to learn about electrical circuits for the remainder of the week.
